How Much Does a Personal Alarm Cost?

What are you actually paying for?
With an unmonitored alarm, you buy a device and that is the end of it — but nobody is on the other end. With a monitored personal alarm, the cost covers a team of trained operators available every hour of every day, the connectivity that reaches them, and equipment maintained as part of the service.
That is why monitored services are normally sold as a subscription rather than a one-off purchase. It also means the fairest way to compare providers is to look at the total ongoing cost and exactly what is included in it.
The costs you may come across
Not every provider charges all of these — which is precisely why they are worth checking.
Device or equipment cost
Some providers sell the hardware outright; others include it within the service. With MediAlarm, the device is supplied as part of the monitoring subscription rather than sold separately.
Set-up or activation fees
Some services charge to set up an account or configure a device. MediAlarm does not add a separate set-up or activation charge to the plans shown on this page.
Monitoring subscription
The main ongoing cost: 24/7 response, your details and contacts held on file, and operators who stay on the line until help arrives.
Delivery
Delivery is free with MediAlarm 247. Elsewhere, check whether postage is added at checkout.
Replacement equipment
Ask what happens if a device is damaged, lost or stops working — whether it is replaced within the service and on what terms.
Connectivity and optional extras
Our plans include the SIM, with nothing to top up. Other services may charge separately for connectivity, extra pendants or additional accessories.
MediAlarm 247 prices for adult personal alarms
These are our current plan prices for the Go — Adults GPS watch and the One — GPS Pendant. Both devices are on the same plan pricing.
- Monthly plan£32.99 per month
One payment every month.
- Quarterly plan£89.99 every 3 months
One payment every three months instead of monthly.
- Annual plan£299.99 per year
One yearly payment — best long-term value.
Each plan includes the device, the SIM, automatic fall detection, GPS location, the TrueKare app and 24/7 UK monitoring. Paying quarterly or annually reduces the effective monthly cost compared with paying monthly.
Junior kids' GPS watch pricing
Junior is family monitored via the TrueKare app only, not connected to our 24/7 monitoring team. Its plans are priced independently of the adult monitoring service.
- Pay Monthly£15.99 per month
Rolling monthly family monitoring.
- Pay Quarterly£45.99 per quarter
One payment every three months.
- Pay Annually£179.99 per year
One yearly payment — best long-term value.
Junior includes family location tracking, two-way voice and video calling, safe zones and an SOS button to designated family contacts only. See the Junior kids' GPS watch for full details.
Monthly versus annual payment
Paying monthly keeps commitment low and is easiest to start and stop — useful if an alarm is needed for a period of recovery rather than indefinitely.
Paying quarterly or annually costs less over the same period and means fewer payments to think about. It suits households who already know the alarm is a long-term arrangement.
Whichever you choose, our 30 day money back guarantee lets you test the device in real life — signal at home, battery routine, how quickly our team answers — before settling in.
What to compare beyond the price
24/7 UK monitoring
Check that alerts reach trained operators at any hour, not an answering service or an app notification to a relative. See how monitoring works.
Mobile and GPS use
Does the alarm work away from home, or only near a base unit? Ours are GPS personal alarms with a SIM included.
Fall detection
Some providers charge extra for it. Ours include it as standard, with the honest caveat that no system detects every fall — more on fall alarms.
Equipment terms
Is the device owned, rented or supplied with the service? Know what has to be returned, and when.
Contract and cancellation
Check notice periods and any minimum term. Ours are set out in our Terms and Conditions.
Customer service and replacements
Can you reach a real UK person on the phone, and what happens if equipment needs replacing? These matter more than a pound either way on the monthly price.
A note on comparing other providers
UK personal alarm pricing spans a wide range, from basic unmonitored buttons to fully monitored mobile services with fall detection. We deliberately do not publish figures for other providers here, because prices and inclusions change and an out-of-date comparison helps nobody.
If you are weighing up options, our buying guide sets out the questions to ask any provider so you can compare like with like.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a monitored personal alarm cost?+
With MediAlarm 247, the Go watch and One pendant cost £32.99 a month, £89.99 every 3 months, or £299.99 a year (from £24.99 a month). That single subscription covers the device, the SIM, 24/7 UK monitoring and the TrueKare app. Across the wider UK market, prices vary considerably depending on whether the service is monitored, whether it is mobile, and whether fall detection is included.
Are personal alarms free?+
A monitored alarm service is not free, because it includes a 24 hour response team and mobile connectivity as well as the equipment. Some local councils and charities run their own telecare schemes with different funding arrangements, and it is always worth asking your local authority what is available in your area. We cannot comment on the eligibility rules or charges of individual councils.
Is there a monthly fee?+
Yes — the service is a monitoring subscription. For Go and One, you can pay £32.99 a month, £89.99 every three months, or £299.99 once a year (from £24.99 a month).
Do I own the alarm equipment?+
No. MediAlarm equipment is supplied for use with the monitoring service and remains the property of Medi Alarm 247 Limited in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It must be returned when the service ends. The subscription is not a purchase price for a device you keep.
What should I compare when choosing an alarm?+
Look past the headline monthly figure. Check whether monitoring is genuinely 24/7 and UK based, whether the device works away from home, whether fall detection is included, whether a SIM is included, what happens if equipment needs replacing, how the contract can be cancelled, and how easy it is to reach a real person on the phone.
Is Junior priced the same as the adult devices?+
No. Junior is family monitored via the TrueKare app only, not connected to our 24/7 monitoring team. Its separate plans cost £15.99 per month, £45.99 per quarter or £179.99 per year.
